Why are people called 'cold'?

Do mean/up-themselves/snobby/evil people actually make themselves cold because of their negative thoughts, which we all know, lead to how we feel? Do nice people who spread joy literally feel warmth and so goes the opposite for 'cold' people? Or does it have some other meaning which is completely un-related
